It's Colorforms fun!
Of the three finalists, Mila is the one who offered the most variety in terms of silhouette. From long and flowy to short and tight to dramatic A lines, you can't quite pin her down on that front. She's definitely got a range as far as that goes. She gave us pants just enough times to show she could do them and split the rest between dresses, skirts, jackets, vests, and gowns.
Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way: colorblocking. To our way of thinking it's an element she returned to a couple times too many during the competition. Worse (in our opinion) it tended to always take the form of stripes, which just increased the perception that she had a very limited aesthetic. She could do a range of garments, but in the end they tended to all have the same few design elements repeated over and over. When she used it, her color choices tend to be equally as extreme as black and white; either drab neutrals or garish brights with nothing in between.
It also seems to us that her first three looks were her three strongest. She had some good stuff here and there in the middle (7,9), but her last few looks got increasingly bad. Upon review, her reputation seems to have been accurate because not only did she color block as often as we remembered, she also returned to the mod-inspired aesthetic she clearly loves (1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9) just as much.
In the end, it was clear she was one of the strongest designers even if she wasn't always the most consistent. She showed she could produce a wide range of garments and she certainly can't be accused of not having a point of view. The mod-inspired retro stuff only goes so far before boredom sets in, at least from where we're sitting. So long as she can demonstrate there's more to her than that, she's got an equal shot for winning it.
