Valentino Fall 2010 Collection
Style.com starts us off:
"The shoes at Valentino—blush-colored patent-leather kitten heels trimmed in metal studs—are an apt metaphor for the direction Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri are taking the storied label. Former accessories designers under Valentino Garavani himself, they're utterly in touch with all of the house's romantic, ruffled codes, but they're determined to modernize it with their more dangerous, youthful sensibilities. "
Oh no, not "dangerous, youthful sensibilities!" The house of Valentino may have stumbled with its recent ill-advised, Rodarte-inspired couture collection but came roaring back with this one. This feels like what they've been trying to accomplish all along: a modern take on the Valentino aesthetic. These clothes are dreamy, literally. Fluttery, ethereal, feminine and very, very pretty, we think even the most bitter of kittens would have to admit there's a couple pieces in there she'd like to wear once.
And if you don't think those shoes are fabulous, well. We may need to take a break from each other for a little while.
