Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2010 Collection
Maybe it's not fair to compare this RTW collection to his previous haute couture collection, but it's kind of hard not to when they're so thematically similar. Fashion Wire Daily called this collection "a multi-ethnic romp," which sounds like a bad description of a romantic comedy, but actually describes the collection quite well. His couture collection was laser-focused on Mexican and Inca influences and he's broadened the scope here to present a more generic Latin American feel, as well as incorporating Russian, Uzbek, and African influences. The result can occasionally be a bit much. There are plenty of individual pieces here we love - we're total coat queens, so of course we love every one of them - but you really have to punch through all the noise to see them.
