Here's the thing about Katy Perry. She gets a lot of crap from bitchy bloggers like us about the crazy shit she'll wear in public but we tend to think most of the crazy shit is fun and even a little expected. You're young, rich, thin and famous. If not now, then when?

Having said that, it doesn't mean that everything gets a free pass from us. This little getup, for instance. This is a regional reference for which we apologize, but this is pure Wildwood, New Jersey Boardwalk, circa 1984. We can practically smell the Salem Lights and Bain de Soleil from here. To complete the look, she should have a man standing next to her at all times with a t-shirt that reads "I go nuts for Italian butts." We're having a hard time picturing Russell Brand in such a shirt, but maybe he can be convinced.

Seriously, this is an '80s beach coverup, full stop. It doesn't really have the fun quality that a lot of her getups have. It just looks a little trashy and a little slutty.

And what's the deal with those shoes? Nude platform pumps with THIS? We'd say she needs new gays but she clearly doesn't have ANY gays, because a gay would have taken one look at that tacky attention-getter (the dress, we mean) and say "You know what this tacky thing needs? TACKY SHOES!"
