Buncha poo-flinging monkeys.
Feh. We think we're gonna do this speed-dating style. The more we look at this week's entries, the more they disappoint. Besides, it's hot and we stuffed ourselves this weekend.
Ready? Go.
Shocking 40 years ago. Kinda of a cliche now, wouldn't you say? Body fluid motif? Check.
Yeah. Ditto everything we said above. And that title! "In an Instant," Starring Dana Delaney on Lifetime Television for Women. Also: Body fluid motif? Check.
Oh, how first year. How low on impact or meaning. Body fluid motif? Check.
How very Robert Crumb-y. Body fluid motif? Check.
To be honest, we did kind of like these. They aren't what we would call "shocking" but they caught the eye and made strong (if obtuse) statements. The fact that she deliberately depicted some of China Chow!'s outfits brings it into the realm of bitchy deviousness, for which we only have applause.
But still: Body fluid motif? Check.
Seriously, Artists. You all were way disappointing on the "shocking" front, going straight for the tired body fluid stuff. Didn't any of you stop and consider that maybe the very presence of Andres Serrano was causing you to lapse into doing something derivative? Tsk. A whole lotta cliche going on.
