But thankfully on this occasion he managed to stay calm and here was no repeat of his cringe-inducing appearance in 2005, when the movie star leapt on Oprah's couch to declare his love for then girlfriend Katie Holmes
In the new interview, which was previewed on US show Entertainment Tonight, both Cruise and wife Katie greet Oprah as she arrives at their snow-covered home.

The Oprah special is set to air in the United States on Friday.
Then on Monday, Cruise will visit the chat show queen's Chicago studio to celebrate 25 years in film since his breakout role in Risky Business.
